I have search, but no good results.

What are the differences in the stock Rochester 2G from year to year? Is there a difference between the emission control and the non-emission carburetor? The SM does sets the float drop measurement differently. Is that the only difference?

Can any year carburetor be used on any year V6 with out problems?

    TIA

    Cary

Well, I know they went from manual choke to a hot air choke in '70 or so.

The only hot air choke I've ever seen was on a Commando. My 70 & 71 CJ's were both manual choke

Oh. I pulled a hot air choke off of a '71 CJ5, but I reckon it could have been added.

I'm using a 2g off an early 60's Chevy V8 that I found in the junkyard. Works great after a quick rebuild.

    :iagree:

Automatic chokes were a Jeepster only item as I recall from past discussions and that jives with my experiences as well.

To understand the carburetor differences it's best to observe the Dauntless engine from its inception.
When Buick installed the 225 V-6 in 1964 and 1965 that engine was equipped only with a single bore manifold.
These Buicks used either the Rochester BC 7024148 or BC 7024149 single throat carburetors.
In fact Rochester's were the only factory carburetors ever to be used for the 225 V-6.
According to old "Motors" publications, Buick still installed a few 225 V-6 engines into the 1967 model year.
The 1966,67 V-6 Buicks were all equipped with double throated Rochester carburetors.

Kaiser Jeep also installed a few Dauntless engines with a single throat Rochester # 7016507 (21-103).
I believe that these single throat Rochesters were installed only during the late 1965 model year.
    Related topic, go see... http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76636
Obviously the single throat carburetor was engineered to mount onto a single bore Dauntless manifold.
For those wanting to increase their Jeep Dauntless fuel mileage there remain a few single bore manifolds to be found.
Beginning in the 1966 model year the two barrel manifold was installed onto Jeep Dauntless engines.
Jeep then used the dual throat Rochester # 7026082 or # 7026086 (W/O emissions)
They also used # 7027082 or # 7041185 (with emmisions)
Carburetors used with or W/O emmissions will use a different float and lever.
They also use a different needle and seat.

Interestingly here are the compared torque and HP ratings.
    Single throat = 225 ft lbs. torque @ 2400 rpm or 155 HP @ 4400 rpm
    Dual.. throat = 235 ft lbs. torque @ 2400 rpm or 160 HP @ 4200 rpm

Hm. I thought "Dauntless" was a name that Kaiser Jeep gave to the Buick V6.
