After almost 40 years of service I think my springs have seen their better days. I am starting to get rubbing point that I never had a max flex. Anybody out there change out their old spring with origional replacements that could give me a measurement of how if sits. I am thinking of a vertical dimension from the top of the axel housing to the underside of the frame. This would give me an idea of how bad mine might be sagging and help me with the question.......more lift or not more lift.

Can't give you dimensions on replacements Flip... it seems most guys are happy with a 2.5" lift BDS seems to be the choice these days.
If that seems too much, I think Rancho makes a 1" lift for Early CJ5s

I have though about lifting it some but thought I would also have to buy new shocks....so I am trying to stay with origional.

What I found was that often times you can pick up a lift kit on a deal that includes new shocks. When I got the Rancho kit it was at least $100 cheaper than the replacement springs at that time.
