Took a deep breath last night and cranked my F-head for the first time in twelve years, YA-HOOO! The bendix actually worked, and even though the clutch is froze up and I was turning the trans also, it turned over real easy, and the oil idiot light went right out. (I took out the add-on gauges I gave Dad back in the sixties, just because I wanted to start over from square one, what with all the other Black Lab-induced trouble I was facing) I've been sweating this step for too long, for fear that I was going to hear something go sproing! or ouch or something. Now, I am down to the last of the first problems I had to work on: I need to rewire the ignition as stock from the key and instrument cluster to the coil. If I'm not as full of it as usual, I think I need a wire from the low voltage side of the fuel gauge to the coil, as well as a wire from the cranking circuit of the ignition switch. Is this correct? Also, is there anything else in either of those circuits? When my laundry is done and it's a tad above freezing in the shop, I'm outta here!!! Any help today?? I am pumped! Let's go!
