over the years ive built alot of vehicles but this willys is kickin my butt i know this has been beat to death but i gotta say im as confused as i think i have ever been :? . im putting a scout axle under my 2a i understand i have to change the caster , and outboard the springs but for the love of mike would someone give me a list of parts that they used to convert knuckles and spindles and brakes so i can make it 5 on 5 1/2 lug without all the scout junk . please only post if you have done it and your truck is on the road and driving thanks guys i appreciate the help

ok so thats kinda a step in the right direction but not what i wanted to hear ok so its a dana 44 and i would like to use something stronger than dana30 parts . or should i scrap the scout axle and get a waggy axle ?

I don't think the 30 parts are that much weaker.

What I did was use chevy/waggy knuckles with the 6 bolt spindles. Use the early small bearing chevy spindles. Then get some early ford wheel hubs, bearings and seals to convert it all to 5 on 5.5. I went ahead and used the chevy brakes with a ford rotor. This will also convert the hubs to internal hubs.

I believe you can also use the latter big bearing chevy spindles with later dodge wheel hubs to get 5 on 5.5.

I hope that helps and doesn't confuse you more,

the dana 30 stuff ill prolly break with 36's ok so 73-77 chevy dana 44 knuckle , spindle ,caliper bracket , calipers and ford rotors and bearings is this correct ? now what stub shaft the chevy or the scout .

why not just get a chevy axle and narrow it since you're gonna need all the parts anyways and are a bit more common than waggy axles

tryin to avoid that ive already got most the parts and i want to keep it 5 lug since i got the tires and rims the rear dana 44 with 5lug . believe me im about ready to scratch the whole idea and put a set of 60's under it

You can use Ford outers also. They have the 5 on 5.5" pattern, and the better internally splined hubs. The downside is that the Ford disc brake set up is kind of primitive compated to Chevy or FSJ stuff, they tend to brake on the inner surface of the discs a lot.

A good set up is to run FSJ and then combine it with the Ford disc and rotors. But you have to search a few parts there are some bearing surfaces and spindle differences. Do a search on Pirate, there are a fee threads that list part numbers and correct years of vehicles.

If you use the GM parts you need to use the GM or Ford outer axles. The Scout's will not work. Wrong length and spline count.
