Can someone help me understand the difference between flanged and flared axles . I know there are differences in bearings that support the axle, but how can i tell one from the other by looking at the vehicle ? Pic's would be helpful !
I have a 52 m38a1 , with original suspension that I'm gonna start rebuilding next spring. Thanks

Flanged is a one piece axle; the hub where the wheel bolts on is a part of the shaft.
A tapered, or two-piece, the hub is a separate piece that's held on to the shaft with a nut, visible on the end of the shaft, with a dust cover over it.
