No free play in brake peddle????

I worked on my 69 with 10" brakes this weekend. All the adjusters were frozen, and would not move. I got them freed and adjusted each wheel.

I drove it around and it stops good, I know that it takes more leg pressure to stop manual brake, that's not the problem.

The problem is that I have no free play in the pedal. The brake pedal is solid from the start. I would think that a 1/4 or a 1/2 inch free play could be normal.

I know that the shoes are adjusted right and are not too tight. But what could be the problem? :?:?:?

Has anyone run into this before? If so what did you find was the problem?

adjust the plunger rod going into the master cylinder.

    Yup.
Make sure the pedal is returning all the way up also and not sticking.

Thanks, I'll try that. :) I thought about the plunger rod after I hit "submit post."

Also I'm pretty sure that the pedal is coming all the way back up, but I'll double ck that also...

I would also make sure your wheel cylinders are not frozen/sticky. If they don't retract freely that can take a lot of 'slack' out of the pedal "feel."
