D30 Carrier

    I just picked up a D30 axle. I read here recently that you can change the side gears in a Powerlok to accomodate different spline axles. My question is can I put a Powerlok that is in a D27 in a D30 and replace the sidegears in the Powerlock to use the D30 axles. My Powerlok is only about 5 years old and I'd like to use it (besides saving about $400).

    I'm reasonably sure the D27 won't fit the D30, but i'm no expert. I know the open carrier won't fit.

    Kinda what I thought. Jeep life is never easy. I have an open carrier from a 27 that I was going to compare when I got the 30 carrier out. On the plus side, I know someone out there will be looking for a Powerlok for a 27 when it comes out. Thanks

    I'm no expert either, though I also believe the 27 and 30 carriers are different. Powerlock for a 30 does exist - I used to have one from a C101 rear. Too bad it disappeared somewhere ...
