Are CJ model 20s and Waggie 20s the same R&P??

    I wll be getting my waggie rear end this week. I am wondering if the waggie and CJ ring and pinion are the same?? Just want to make sure before i start looknig for gears for it :)

    same criter ;) the only diferent animal you will see is a 20 from a j truck which has one piece axles.

    Thanks guys. Defiantely one piece axles. Hopeing to somehow get a FF into it. I will find out when i get to experiment with the axle

    also on the 20 there is no break in the carier, one does all ratios ;)

    I found that out about a month ago, i was overjoyed since the waggies didnt have the 2.07 ratio. :) So only will have to buy a carrier for the 44 when the time comes :)

    The J-truck / Wagoneer rear end is called the AMC Corporate 23, or M23, and has 2-piece welded axles. That is, the hub is welded to the axle. Strength is comparable to the flanged Dana 44 - a lot stronger than the 2-piece CJ M20 or the 2-piece Dana 44.

    yeh i have heard of the ford 9" having that low of a gear but never anything else.

    Should be 3.07 I think. Most later Wagons had 3.07s stock or 3.31s with the towing package.

    I was thinknig the CJs has 2.07, maybe 2.73, it was in the 2's. I am hopnig not to gether that ration, that is actually the break i believe, the 2... gear ratio.. and then the rest of the gears for the model 20. I am still crossing my figners i wont have to change carriers.
