I just mounted a rear seat for the kiddos in my 74 cj5 but am looking for ideas about seat-belts. The tub is fiberglass so no stock mounting holes for belts (if they ever even existed). I'm thinking of scavenging the local junk yard for some belts.

TJ belts worked well for me, but you'll need to figure out how/what to anchor them to.

i dont have any kids yet but i dont think i woud feel comfortable trusting their lives to a used seat belt to save a couple of sollars. there are numerous places to get fairly cheap dot aproved bets. do a search on the net. as far as mounting them, just figure out where you want them and drill some holes. make and install some 3" square washers out of flat strap on the bottom side side of the tub to keep them from pulling through the tub.

I got my DOT approved harness belts from Wesco Seatbelts. I have 2 for the back seat and I mounted 3 points up front (retractable). After adjusting the harness belts they are easy to use. Adjusting them was a bear though. I can get pics if you want..

Concur. Seatbelts stretch in a wreck and are supposed to be replaced if the car isn't totaled. Obviously not all of the cars in a yard will be wrecks, but I still wouldn't risk my kids' lives on used belts. Another place you can get 2 and 3 point belts from is autoloc.com. Think of it this way - you'll probably spend several hundred dollars on tires that will wear out, so why try and save a few bucks on something that should last as long as the Jeep and may save a life or two? Not trying to lecture you, just some food for thought. :)

The rears are a standard size. Just choose the color and the mounting kit of needed. I ordered red ones with a mounting kit for each. You adjust the size in the rear where the belts mount in the back. The fronts were the standard 3 point retractable with a linger (11 inch) guide where the seatbelt buckles (as the mount is much lower than the seat). The sash guide was normal (the part that mounted to the roll bar. I did not order the long one) Need pics?

When I did mine I incorporated some fixings into the actual seat base, the orriginals were there for the centre buckles it was just the outside ones I made, I found some good rear lap belts from a scrapyard and bolted those in using grade 8 bolts. I may in the future add retractable ones to the rear but at this point lap belts are fine.
