First I would like to say Hello to everybody. My name Is Rich from San bernardino, CA, and I've ever made a formal introduction, though I am always lurking in the forums. You guys are great and have answered a couple of questions for me.

    +bad bad day lol

Last night after months and months, I installed the engine in the willys. finished up at midnight, do all the plumbing and stuff today...add coolant and pow...driver side rear coolant leak just beneath the header. not leaking into the cylinder or anything but when i pour water in, it pours out, not drips. I checked to make sure the coolant passages lined up with the head gasket too. now Im depressed haha. the engine looks purdy though so I guess its not all that bad. have any of you run into this problem before?

What engine? Sounds like a exhaust stud/bolt through a water jacket.

really? its a 225 v6 that would be exactly where it is around the exaust bolt. is that a common problem, I guess tomorrow I will pull the headers off and watch where it pours out

Not sure about the 225, but my F heads have done that.

I hope so, that would make sense since there is not a bolt in the bottom rear exhaust I left it out until I could get my hands in there. its a super tight fit.

Exhaust studs don't go into the water jackets on a 225, unless someone at some time drilled out a broken stud and went too far . However, removing the exhaust manifold might make it easier to see where it is leaking.

Glenn thanks! that was the problem! I put a bolt with some black rtv and it stopped the leak completely. its ready to start now...but my batteries dead and I don't have a charger...lame. it must have been drilled out at one time or something. This morning I poked a piece of wire into the hole and it came out wet.

Which bolt was this? Or, where is it?

the bolt was the driver side rear, bottom exaust manifold bolt. if that makes any sense. I guess the exaust ports were moved up for better flow like the high port heads, thats what i was told anyways. maybe they moved the hole. I dunno it works now.

Sucks that it leaks where it does but at least you got it fixed.
