Anyone know where to get replacement heater control cables for a 75'? I busted mine up and I can't seem to find them anywhere. Thanks!

There was only one source that I was aware of that was selling them, Vintage Jeep Parts, but the last few times I've heard from people who checked they were unavailable with no expectation of when new ones would be available: http://www.vintagejeepparts.com/Parts_Heater_01.asp

Call them and see. If they're not available when I'm to the point of needing them I plan to use generic manual choke cables from my local FLAPS.

I repaired mine using universal control cables from the parts store. Pull out the core and reuse it with the sheath from the universal cable. That way you get the knob you want with a cable sheath that can be attached to the panel with a nut.

    Well, um, it's kludgey...

I heated the end over my gas stove to remove the temper and straightened out the loop. Then I could pull the core out. Be sure to measure what length the core is wrt the sheath before you take things apart.

To make a new loop, I used a loop crimp connector. After I installed the core in the new sheath, I crimped the connector at the location I wanted for the loop, and bent the wire back over the crimp. Then I soldered the connection and cut off the extra wire. The crimp connector is tinned copper, so it won't last as long as the original loop ... but I figure it will be fine for the next decade or so.

You could try bending the wire back into a loop ... that would be neater.

Give Georges Jeep Parts a call. I got replacements from there last year. They are the correct lengths. I used a piece of aluminum angle for my panel. I still need to make some labels.
