I was planning on swapping in the 11" brakes from a set of 57 Willys pickup axles into my 48 CJ2A. I have not begun this as I am still working on the frame.
Is there any reason this should not work?
    Thanks!

    nickmil In mothballs.

Some of the late Willys PU's used Bendix brakes. The earlier's used Lockheed Brakes. If yours are the Bendix then it's a great upgrade. If the Lockheed's with the cam style adjusters you are gaining in brake size but still have the finicky adjusters to deal with. It's up to you but I'd hold out for the Bendix style.

Also moved to tech for better exposure.

    :iagree:

The willys PU brakes work great, but you do have to deal with adjusting them from time to time. I have a set on my '48. I also have a set of intermediate 11 inch brakes that I will be swapping them out with this summer. I like the intermediate 11 inch brakes because they are :
    1. self adjusting
    2. easier to get parts.

Given the amount of work, I'd go for the self-adjusting brakes from the beginning.

Hey Carl, it's Ryan (from the Show & Shine). Nothing useful to chime in with, just saying hello. Although, the Mitsu has (now had) rear lockheed style brakes with the eccentric nuts, what a pain to adjust... Crossing my fingers that yours are Bendix.

Thanks for the info, I'm at work and now curious to see what's on the spare axles. There next door and will check when I get home. Hope they're Bendix!!
Hey Ryan, nice pic on the NOVA forum.

    Bad News, not the Bendix.
