Fuel tank filler hose and vent hose

I thought I could use my old hoses but found out yesterday that they are in pretty bad shape. I filled up and pumped gas up into the filler hose and had a nice leak of expensive gas.

I see Omix replacement filler hoses for a 72 but don't seem to find a vent hose. Does a older or newer one work? Who sells a vent hose?

Also the vent hose connects to the filler hose with a fitting, is there a hole in the new hose or do you have to make your own?

    Thanks

MTS lists a vent hose they say will work. I replaced the main hose on my CJ-6, but I reused the vent hose. http://www.mtscompany.com/jeep.htm

The big hose has the hole in it already.

Thanks Tim. I'll probably do the same. I think the vent hose is intact enough to vent and if it falls apart I can probably use a length of appropriately sized hose. As always, trying to stretch the budget.

It's a really tight bend and I thought I could get away with something close. It kept on kinking.
I went with the MTS hose. Great customer service. Too bad they don't let you order online. Just call them the old fashioned way.
While you got them on the line, get your new cowl vent hose. You know you'll need one.

If you need the metal piece for the vent that fits into the filler hose you can get one here.

His part number is CJFHN-1. I seriously messed up the threads on mine when replacing the hose, it took quite awhile reworking the threads to get them "un-crossed", but it works now.

X2 on that. He stocks those vent bungs as well as filler hoses. Pretty good dude too. I have gone over and bought a lot of parts from him as he is local here in Portland.

My experiences have been just the opposite but each to their own. I live about 8 or 9 blocks from him and won't buy or sell with him. He tried shenanigans both ways and I've known him since high school...

Plus he was banned from here years ago. That should say something

Thanks for the info guy's. I took a close look at the vent hose and as DREDnot noted it's a right angle turn and not a good location for straight tubing. I'll order both hoses and be done with it. This is turning into a real restoration. I love how things crop up that you HAVE to repair or replace and most of them are not optional. You can't leak gas, you must have brakes etc. Glad it's not a daily driver, for me fixing this stuff is fun.

FYI, I just bought the MTS vent hose and it's not the right one for a 74. It will work, but it's not an exact fit. The one they will send you is the same as the 78-86 version. You can cut about 4" off of it and make it work, but it's not an exact replica of the original.
