This has been much harder than what I have read it would be.....

Anyways I have the engine and tranny hooked together inside the jeep, but nothing seems to be alignging correctly. The whole engine seems to be wayyyy too low not even allowing the engine mounts to work that came with the adptor kit, and the fan is at the bottom of the radiator.

I can not seem to figure out how to do this.

ANYONE WHO HAS DONE THIS BEFORE...PLEASE HELP! I would love to talk on the phone even, if thats what it came to

    Thanks!

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

what position are the brackets that attach to the frame ?
seems you can position them either way, gusset up or down.

yeah the parts that come off the engine are even with the frame, and I can not bring the engine any higher without hitting the body with the tranny...
so either way I flip the gussets they are either above or below the frame.... unless i drop the engine even lower...

Uh, what v-6? Buick? Chev? No conversion is a "bolt in" and requires some finagling. What steering are you using? Stock Ross? Saginaw? More info would be helpful. Even the stock 225 Jeeps had the fan below the bottom of the radiator.

Already welded in the gusseted frame mounts right? Man I wish I had a picture? I did that once and had to cut and refit.

Have you called AA? No not that AA, Advance Adapters. The other AA is useful at times though when these old beasts have you turnin to drink.

Buick v6... 225... dauntless. Stock Ross steering, but that is not in the way.

Engine mounts are not welded in yet, I do not know where to put them yet sense the engine is not really in place.

I looked at another jeep ( 70's) with teh v6 in it, and the fan is only about 1/3 up on the radiator, but at this point my fan is litterely 1/4 up on it.... I would most certainly need an electric fan.

The thing that gets me is in 65 they put the v6 225 in it, and the bodies are not that much different.

I have not read that, but I have read this http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3b/EngineSwap.html .............. and it said anything about what I am running into.

one other thing - you know grill shell is different between a 4cyl jeep and a stock V6

The grill changed in ~69 or 70, but all I've seen were the same for any given year, V6 or 4cyl
In other words no, they are not different.

Many if not most v-6 jeeps also had spacers in the transmission crossmember to drop it down some for driveline angles and possibly for the trans to clear the floor
Edit. Between the crossmember and frame

I am putting 1" AL pucks in to lift the body on my Niece's '62 we are swapping in. On this one we have the stock motor mounts instead of the Novak ones I normally use. You really need to give us some pics, then many of us can point you in the right direction. It only 'seems' hard :) once you get a couple things lined up, the rest falls into place.

Okay, I can tomorrow when it is light out.

Now that is an idea! I might be able to do that, I can drop the rear of the tranny which would allow the front of the engine to go up

P.S. I have enough room for the radiator, the engine is just very low on it

    Back in the 70's, I put a V6 in a MB.
IIRC, I had to move the motor foreward about an inch to get it up high enough to clear the front drive shaft, still had to notch the bellhousing a bit and lower the crossmember to get things to work.

    Here's my Buick V6 swap:

    http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showthread.php?75968-My-Buick-231-v6-swap

Mine has an adapter to put the buick bellhousing on to the T90 trans, and with that the valve covers barely clear the body (okay, they barely touch the firewall) while leaving the transfercase mounted in the stock location so the shifters still end up in the stock location and the drivelines stayed the same.

I always move the motor forward to clear the firewall - on both flatties and 5s. Some guys get stuck on not wanting to change the drivelines, which is a huge mistake in my book.

Is there a body lift installed? If so, that can create a pretty significant misalignment between the fan and the rad.
