Last week I responded to a craigslist ad in CT for a Willys jeep for $100. I instantly recognized it as an MB. Turns out its a Willys MB dated 1943. There is no tub or windshield and the original engine number (as it reads on the paperwork): 283773 has been swapped with a CJ2A motor number: 40130B (per the motor exchange form). The lady I bought it from was very kind and helpful. She gave me an envelope with all the original Army Paperwork, Nebraska Strategic Air Command paperwork, West Virginia title and history. Her father went to Germany in WW2 and was a real life rocket scientist! He purchased the jeep in 1948 from the army and shipped it back to the US where it stayed in the family up until now. I have yet to scan the paper work and black and white photographs but I'm super exited about this purchase. The frame tag on the front gusset reads: MB293773.

I am waiting to receive authorization on membership to the G-503 family so I can post the info and pictures and add it to the database. I will start a new thread when I have pictures and the documents scanned.

that's awesome. All that paperwork is way harder to score than a body!
