Not trying to derail the thread, but where would one purchase a Powerlock for a D25? And approximately how much $?

    Sorry for the hijack.

    From the forum rules

    19. If you have to apologize (or say 'I don't mean to hijack') for posting something DON'T (post it)! Does not apply in OT.

The D25 Powr Lok is fairly uncommon.
The D44 Powr Lok did not become a Jeep option prior to late 1956.
The D25 Powr lok appears to be a Jeep option by about 1959.
It was only produced for about 3 years then along came the D27 replacing the D25.
For that reason most all available D25 Powr Loks were aftermarket purchases.
I have a couple that were built in 1984. (not for sale).
You just have to search long and hard.
    They are out there.
A unit in good used condition will likely run about $250.

Thanks for the reply. I had read that they were no longer made for the 25. I've also read that with some mods, a Powerlock for a 27 can be made to work. Is this true?

And I apologize for the rule violation. That's what I get for not reading the rules all the way through...

Well... Dana Corporation like all the rest SOLD OUT several years ago.
So no, they are not in production.
AFAIK Herm sells a D27 to D25 Powr Lok adapter.
FYI The D25, D27 and D30 Powr Lok's all use the same friction disks.

Search Ebay and keep track of the Classified sections of boards like this one.
I actually got mine from a friend on another board for about $50. It was in need of a rebuild but still well worth the price.

I "shoe horned" a 27 Powr Lok from a Scout into a 25 on my CJ2A over 30 years ago and still use it . I had read that a 4 x 4 shop in Ca. did it so.......... . The 27 is a little longer so I had to grind out the inside of the 25 housing and machine off the bearing cap . I used a narrower bearing race and then shim for proper backlash .

Tool .5 inch to 10 Spline Jeep Front Axle.jpg Just finished a tool to check thePowr Lok while in the 2A . I've been interested in torque values but can't find any . Also built a unit for bench testing and the first setup showed 75 #'s to sustain rotation . Substituting a belville disc in place of a flat disc showed 135 #'s for constant rotation . The manual I have only mentioned at least 40 #'s and made no distinction between the 27 and 44 . Anyone else tried this ?
