anytime , weekends work good. been hitting the rig almost every weekend , I need it for a Big Bear Bronco Bash in june ,,,,and the 'con run if all goes well .

why yes Ray ,the use I have for that little custom guy is to make enough money to build another strong shaft for the 6
.I"ll price one to build but this one might just get retubed at Oceanside Driveline.

Steve - I'm assuming the DS has a 3" stroke are you planning to keep it as is or increase the stroke? Sorry if I missed it, what size lift springs do you have?

    Looks good!

chuck - lift is cj7 black diamond 3" and the axle is pushed back on the springs 1"also .the shaft I got from ray is a test shaft , I want a thicker one,and rocks is what this jeep sees most .with the longer springs I have more droop than normal cj5 .thinking the little shaft will just get longer since it has a double cardan ,I've made my own front shafts before ,no big deal, but I want the rear done right and balenced .

    Thanks,

Just a thought, I used a 90's front explorer shaft, the tube is 2" diameter .120 wall. The stroke is only 2.5"

I used the same shaft but added a bit of length and 4.5" stroke, this was set up for a 105 WB SOA w/stock wagon springs.

If you ever need some jeep funds and want to get rid of the craftsman ratchet with the rubber inset in the handle hit me up mine just broke and you can't get replacement parts for it anymore.

    Hey Steve,
Posty up a picture from the perspective of you standing on top of the corner guard looking down at the bumper.
From this angle it looks as though the bumper corner is sticking out and going to hook everything it passes, gonna dig in like an anchor.

got the rear gas tank in yesterday .cage work today .extending B pillars to the floor .

after talking to Nickmil,,,, I was served the bad news that my rear diff needs to be cut off the perches and turned down to get my angles to be even close enough for my double carden .that really sucks , don't really want to lower my transfer case at all. so I'm really stuck .

I have a dbl cardan rear shaft and when I set it up originally I pointed the pinion directly at the output yoke on the t-case. It worked fine, with no vibration. On the one I'm setting up now I have it pointed slightly below the output. Not trying to second guess Nick, but you might want to run it before you cut those perches off. You could also just use some degree shims if you need to. Just my .02 I went back in this thread to see if you had a pic of the pinion angle and I didn't see one.

I'll post them anyway , I highly value Mr. Nickmils opinion ,but this little shaft actually worked great .I didn't think I had any vibration, and I drove it on the freeway alot ,,,,hundreds of miles to the 'con and dusy .
how you had yours John is pretty much how mine was setup at a driveline shop .

well drove Sway around the block with 1WD.still alot to do rear drive shaft should be ready tomorrow though 37 1/2" .,turn 44 pinion down, finish roll bar,tow points, wiring, and lots of detail stuff that eats tons of time,,,,, etc .

I have to agree ,it's a great feeling to back something you've been building out of the garage.

    nickmil In mothballs.

I think I had a brain fart when we spoke on the phone. I need to recalculate the angles but reading this thread, put in the 5 degree shims to point the pinion downwards from where it is now and try it. I think that may get you where you want to be. I've been so exhausted the last couple weeks I think I may have calculated wrong and want to recheck.

The 6 looks great Steve. You are moving ahead on your build quite fast. Sure enjoy the pics. Look forward to finally meeting you on the Con trip.
