My '73 had the stock YF carb on it and it flooded horribly. Never did solve the sticking float issue so I installed the "direct replacement" Holley carb that came with the Jeep. The linkage had to be kluged together, and never worked right. So this week I bit the bullet and bought a rebuilt YF on eBay. This one starts and idles great and has good power, but if I let it idle for any period of time it will start dumping fuel out around the accelerator pump shaft and onto the manifold.

Any ideas why it would do this? I did go back in and set the float peru 1975 Motor manual and still no joy.

    Very frustrated at this point.

Found it I *think*. I had this carb apart so many times to check float settings and to blow air through the passages that I thought I'd wear the screws out.

Turns out the float itself was bent slightly to one side, making it drag against the side of the bowl. I idled in the driveway for over an hour tonight without acting up. Sometimes it is the painfully simple things that trip you up.
