It seems to me I remember reading a post about where to get the correct shoes, since the commonly available ones won't fit. But for the life of me, I can't bring it up in a search. Does this make sense to anyone? I had to take my e-brake apart last night for an unrelated reason, and found the shoes to be badly worn.

You might want to look for a clutch and brake rebuilder. There is one semi local to me that will put new material on your shoes, or clutch with a day turn around.

I put some new shoes that I got from either Walcks or Turner 4wd on a dana 18 a couple of weeks ago. They went on just fine. There is only one way to mount them so that they'll work, but that is fairly obvious. There was no problem in getting them in there.

I've run into several sets I couldn't get the drum on with new shoes. I carefully ground the end of the shoe where it anchored to the backing plate. Worked well and there was plenty of adjustment to compensate for wear of the shoes. I ran the adjusters all the way in first.

Thanks for all the help. I'll just pick up some shoes, and if they don't fit, I can always machine a little off until they fit, and then sand the shoe down enough to be fairly concentric with the drum.
