Wondering if anyone has done a hydraulic clutch conversion on an early CJ while retaining the factory floor mounted pedals
My Jeep is an M38a1 soon to have a 225 V6 t-14 dana 18 drivetrain from a '71 swapped in. Advise and/or build pictures would be great-
    Thanks

You would be outside the frame rail. No protection from rocks and limbs and such. A piece of flying gravel from the front tire could strand you. Not a lot to mount to there either, just sheet metal, which will not hold up to clutch use. Maybe if you reinforced and built a box to protect it. What you plan to do about checking the fluid level?

The PO had a Wilwood slave and master set up on a 71 CJ5 project I bought. Worked great. I plan on setting it up again. I took a few pics so I could recreate the system. I'll try to find them, and post them up. It was a 225/t18/d18 driveline. All of the mounting brackets were custom made, but not elaborate.

Yes, Curt. Please do see if you can dig up those pictures. I am working on Sparky's old jeep putting in a hydraulic clutch among other things, and your pics would help. Is the slave a push type or a pull type? I am wondering whether a push type might interfere with block hugger headers.
Maybe on a new thread so you don't hijack this one...

I encourage all pictures and feedback- no fear of hijacking.

Don, do you have a photo of those headers? I'm mostly interested in the driver's side. I smashed mine pretty good on our trip and I need to see if the block huggers will clear my steering shaft. Otherwise, I'll need to pick up another set of fenderwells, which I really dislike for a number of reasons.

PS: your PM box is full.

I don't know where this thread is headed but here's a pic of the Novak headers. I did have to route the steering around them.

John, it is the Novac headers that I was considering getting. I already have a set of fenderwell headers and don't like them either.

Did you ever have a chance to find pictures of your hydraulic setup?
