And I bought a nice pair of front seats to go in the front. Despite their color combination and what some think, I verified with an old friend who was an AMC Design Engineer that the 83 Laredo had 5 concept Jeeps that sported silver seats with black stripes. 1 of them never left the factory and 4 were sold to high bidders back in 83.

Broncos and Ford wont fit because the pumpink is driver side. But if you have a t-case dana 300 i think you can flip it using a clocking ring.
The good thing about using broncos axle, they are made for a front coil spring set-up. You can use it on the jeep so you won't need to modify the axle for the conversion, just need to make arm hangers, coil bucket and a trac bar brakets.

Front clip is off (finally) and the YJ tub has been delivered. It is currently sitting on the side of the house. The CJ tub is unbolted and resting until I can find a few strong hands to help me lift it out. I am cutting the JEEP stamps, Vin, and sticker off the tub today, then it is off to the crusher. :D I will keep the tailgate and firewall/cowl. Thanks numbersix for all your help man, I couldn't do this build without you.

Almost done cutting the CJ7 tub right in half. Decided to keep the back half to eventually make a trailer..... Two wide track axles sitting in the garage waiting to take to R&P 4WD around the first. Dana 44 front from a Wagoneer and AMC 20 from another Wagoneer. The AMC 20 from Waggy's were one-piece and had big thick tubes (much stronger than the CJ version). The bits of the tub I am not keeping are either being stored (the cowl and firewall) or scrapped (whole front section). Next step is to clean up the frame with a grinder then prime and paint. I am keeping the stock axles on until the Waggy's come back finished from R&P.

Picked up my rebuilt T-18 and Dana 300 last night. Will post picks later. The Wagoneer front axle (Dana 44) is at R&P 4WD awaiting a complete rebuild, gear change, and possibly ARB locker. Will flat tow the Jeep over there when the axle is done so I can outboard to fit the axle and have them move my rear body mounts for he YJ tub. Rear axle will soon follow....when the wallet allows.

    So....

I have the axles, body, transmission, transfer case, and suspension figured out (BDS 3.5" lift YJ leaf springs), now I just need to figure out the rest of the drivetrain..... So far I have this...

258 I6 with 4.0 head conversion. MSD set up, cutting the exhuast out to run out somewhere else (haven't figured it out yet) and then the decision whether to go F.I. or carb....

Anybody ever think to run the exhuast out the top through the hood like the semi's? I considered it due to getting it out from under the rock crawler.

[IMG]The old transfer case. Will send down the Penetrant line at Selmet and weld up the crack. Then I will build it with 4:1 gears and keep as an extra.

Username: "nickmil" did an amazing job on these pieces. I hope I have more stuff I can send his way.
Can't wait for the suspension and axles next. $1,300 for the leaf springs and lift, then god knows how much for the axle rebuild and brakes.

Thanks for the kudos! Sorry a few spots didn't get touched up on the paint. Figured you wanted them quicker vs letting a bit of paint dry. Certain parts are hard to get paint to stick to.

Looks like you have an awesome project going! Look forward to seeing more pics.

Haha, I would have rather them sit on your bench for an extra two months until I could throw them in the Jeep. They are just going to sit in the corner of my garage side by side on cardboard until I can finalize everything with the axles (and the daunting price tag!) but seriously nick, they look amazing and so much better than what was previously in there. I am sure I will be very happy with it rather than that T5. You do great work, I need to learn how someday....

Engine stand out of the box and in the garage today. The engine will come off next weekend and the frame will be flat towed to R&P4WD for Rich to move the rear body mounts to accommodate the YJ tub. Will post picks of the engine tear down as it commences. Working on machining and fabbing some random Jeep parts to sell for extra cash in the meantime....
