Helped my son replace the starter in his Impala this morning. Then before jumping in the shower I ripped these off the Jeep.

several layers of paint came off fairly easily when soaked in paint thinner for a few minutes. Then a small wire brush got it pretty clean.

Stripped down the driver side tub.

Weld thru primer on the repair sections. Regular rattle can primer on the sheet metal.

Bought a new/used speedo from a member here.
This one had no outlets/ receptacles for the light bulbs. So a little research I found these.

    Perfect fit. Snapped right in!

The price of these vary wildly from $3 to $18. Here’s the link….

Good find as my driver Jeep has receptacles that will not stay in. My floor is well lit but the speedometer is not visible at night.

Before you patch that up can you measure the flange on the old floor (picture with caliper/ tape please)

the distance from the old floor surface to the bottom of the side panel. (At the new seam Below your fuel filler)

    Thank you!

It looks like 15/16”. I’d call it an inch.

Got the patch panels welded in on driver side.

Everyone needs one of these. Easy to cut 16ga straight, round, or crooked.

Ryan isn’t the only one who built a brake this week.

Weld thru Primer on the inside.

it’s a lot of little welds.

    For me, It’s not bad.

    Bondo is currently drying.

    The Hook.

Power to pull the body apart if I’m not careful.

It’s working!! Easy pulls with lots of tapping with a hammer.

It’s not much pressure. If anything broke it would just fall to the ground.

So the Hook I made worked very well. There were big dents in the light panel and the corner piece. Very light coat of filler has things looking pretty good. I’m not good at filler so it’s going to take a bit more work but I’m very happy with how it came out.
Photo is after welding up 8 or 10 holes and before any bondo

The color she picked is actually pretty close to the original Spruce Tip Green.

This afternoon I dug into the passenger corner. “Dug” seems like the correct term.

After blasting through with the paint remover disk I used to hammer and chisel for 20 minutes to get most of the heaviest Bondo off.

After ripping the spare tire off PO didn’t even try making it straight!

You can see the same damage on my passenger side rear in this picture from 1985! It is still there under a thick coat of bondo too. I should grind off the bondo and let my whiskey dent shine.

Jeff really likes this stuff and is a lot more accurate than me so I mostly just let him at it.

We used the Hook and winch again with great results. None of it is close to perfect but pulling dents and straightening panels goes quickly.

It’s all pretty rough and wavy but 100x better than it was.
