Bad Starter or Something else?

    Good deal! Your old starter sounds like what the one on the 198 in Eugene was doing as well. The starter was considerably more than $30 though so I didn't get one.

    I'm confused - some of the 225 V-6 engines use a Prestolite starter and others use a Delco starter. According to the service manual I have, page 205 shows an exploded view of the starter motor and identifies #22 as a "Bendix Drive". A Delco starter shown on page 207 identifies # 10 as an "overrunning clutch". More confused than ever, now. :?
