I just brought home the newest addition to the stable, a 1963 DJ3A. The engine's missing and it needs a little TLC, but it's almost all original. The S/N is 56337-22515, the trim code is 164, and it's a floor shift T-96 (that still has the column shift mechanism and tranny side plate). I'll try to get some pics up soon.

A few questions; Does the 164 trim code correspond with it being dark-ish green? Anybody have a running L-134 for sale? I'd like to make it my daily driver as soon as I can bring it back to life.

Ive got one you can have. Located in Lexington KY about 5 hours from you. Only catch is whoever gets engine gets the 66 frame and driveline attached to it. Wife wants it out of garage. Got a 71 that I am fixing up that is taking up her spot. PM me if interested.

Guys, I appreciate what's going on here but please pm or post in the classifieds if you have something for sale, free, or looking for something as per the forum rules so the threads don't get deleted.

Are the leaf springs and leaf spring bushings the same between a CJ3A and DJ3A?

    Will a CJ3A windshield frame fit a DJ3A? What about a CJ2A frame?

    Thanks.

thats cool! I want a rig like that just to get going safe and reliable and run it as is. It would certainly stand out in a sea of shiny new hyundais :)

My jeep was originally a DJ, and yes, the springs and bushings are the same. The PO of my jeep apparently converted it to 4wd using a 2a, being it had 23-2 rear and 25 front axles when I got it. Otherwise, as far as I've gotten on it, everything from a cj seems to work. I used rancho 2" lift springs from a 3a on the front and everything worked perfectly. Only thing I did notice, is that mine has no tailgate, but has a rear fuel tank, where yours does have a tailgate. Not sure of the factory options on these. Also, mine has the larger "later" model cj5 gauge in it. Does yours have the same?

Yep, it's a real DJ3A. :) My intention is to make it my daily driver, after a paint job (and the accompanying rust repair) and an engine - can't get much more reliable and simple than one of these rigs!

The sliding doors are cool, but I may take the top off and restore/reinstall it later since it's such a big, yet non-essential piece of the Jeep. IMHO, though, they improved the door track design on later DJ's.

DJCJ3A; Nice looking Jeep! Thanks for the info. Yes, there were a number of top/body variations. I'm not sure what they all were, but there were different combinations in several areas. Sorry, I don't know the difference between the gauges, and don't have a pic of mine at the moment - do you have pics of each? Mine is numbered from 0-9.

Also, will a CJ2A/3A windshield frame fit a DJ3A without modification?

As far as I know, my DJ windshield frame is identical to the rest of the 3a's I've seen. Couldn't tell you about the 2a's though.

Yes, mine is a 1960 model year, and it uses the same gauge as the CJ5's of those years.

Is the chrome bumper aftermarket? It looks like off a tux. Also, is that a fold down plate holder on the tailgate? Like a tux? (I know tux is CJ5, but what gives?)

No, I think the chrome bumper was optional on these so I'm under the impression it's original. I also want to say it was optional on both ends, but this one only has the front one.

Yes, it looks kinda like pics I've seen of the Tuxedo Park license plate holder - although, if I remember correctly, it isn't chrome (were the Tux's?)
